About Me & Heartfelt Harmonies
My name is Kiersten Rock-Torcivia. When I was 14, I was diagnosed with ARVD/C - a predominantly genetic heart disease that can be life-threatening when undiagnosed. Since then, I have had multiple procedures, surgeries, tests, and ongoing medical appointments. I find that music really helps reduce my anxiety both before and after hospital stays and checkups. Music is scientifically proven to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and speed up recovery.
I started this charity because I know how hard it can be to undergo surgeries and procedures, particularly when young. For my first surgery, I wish that I knew music would help. Heartfelt Harmonies works to ensure that other kids won’t feel as stressed and worried by providing music therapy kits. I hope that Heartfelt Harmonies can help as many children and families as possible during a stressful time.
After running Heartfelt Harmonies for a while, I decided that I wanted to make a deeper impact. Before having my ICD implanted, as diagnosing heart disease can be a long and complex journey, my doctors recommended my family purchase an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Having gone through this process, I know how expensive and critical these machines are. Heartfelt AEDs aims to help families, clubs, sports teams, and other organizations who have limited funds by donating AED devices.
I hope that these devices will never have to be used, but they will be there to save a life if ever needed, maybe yours or someone you love.
If you or a loved one has a possible cardiomyopathy condition and you want to learn more about my journey, please reach out to me heartfletharmoniescharity@gmail.com, I am always happy to lend support as it can be an incredibly scary time.
I am currently studying nursing at Boston College hoping to go on to becoming a nurse practitioner and helping others who have similar diagnoses as mine.
